قَدindeed فازَhas prospered ذوpossessor of الدُنياthis world وَذوand possessor of الدينِreligion
قَد فازَ ذو الدُنيا وَذو الدينِ
بِدَولَةِunder the reign of الواثِقِal-Wathiq هارونِHarun
بِدَولَةِ الواثِقِ هارونِ
The worldly and the devout have indeed prospered
The worldly and the devout have won
Under the reign of al-Wathiq Harun.
With the rule of al-Wathiq Harun
أَفاضَhe poured forth مِنof عَدلٍjustice وَمِنand of نائِلٍbounty
أَفاضَ مِن عَدلٍ وَمِن نائِلٍ
ماthat which أَحسَنَmade beautiful الدُنياthis world مَعtogether with الدينِreligion
ما أَحسَنَ الدُنيا مَع الدينِ
He has poured forth justice and bounty
He has bestowed justice and grants
That have beautified this world and religion alike.
How good is the world with religion
وَعَمَّand he extended to all بِالإِحسانِwith kindness مِنthrough فِعلِهِhis deeds
وَعَمَّ بِالإِحسانِ مِن فِعلِهِ
فَالناسُso the people فيin خَفضٍease وَفيand in لينِcomfort
فَالناسُ في خَفضٍ وَفي لينِ
And through his deeds he has extended kindness to all,
And spread benevolence through his deeds
So the people live in ease and comfort.
So people are submissive and docile
ماhow أَكثَرَnumerous الداعيthe one praying لَهُfor him بِالبَقاfor long life
ما أَكثَرَ الداعي لَهُ بِالبَقا
وَأَكثَرَand how numerous التاليthe one following بِآمينِwith Amen
وَأَكثَرَ التالي بِآمينِ
How many pray for his long life,
How many pray for his permanence
And how many follow with 'Amen'!
And say Amen again and again
