ياO ذاyou الَّذيwho بِعَذابيin my torment ظَلَّkept مُفتَخِراtaking pride
يا ذا الَّذي بِعَذابي ظَلَّ مُفتَخِرا
هَلAre أَنتَyou إِلّاanything but مَليكٌa king جارَacted unjustly إِذwhen قَدَراhe had power
هَل أَنتَ إِلّا مَليكٌ جارَ إِذ قَدَرا
O you who kept taking pride in my torment,
O you who boast of my torment
Are you anything but a king who acted unjustly when he had power?
Are you anything but a neighbor when fate decrees?

Were it not for passion, we would have vied in measure
And if I recover from it some day, then you will see.
For if I recover from it one day, you shall see
