In Surra Man Ra is a just imam;
With joy for one whose leader is just,
the seas draw water from his ocean.
The seas draw from his sea.

ما اِختَلَفَ اللَيلُ وَالنَهارُ
Sovereignty lies in him and in his sons
The kingdom is in him and in his sons
as long as night and day alternate.
As long as nights and days alternate.

يُرجى وَيُخشى لِكُلِّ أَمرٍ
كَأَنَّهُas though he were جَنَّةٌparadise وَنارُand fire
كَأَنَّهُ جَنَّةٌ وَنارُ
He is looked to with hope and feared in every matter,
For every matter he is hoped for and feared,
as though he were paradise and fire.
As though he were paradise and hellfire.

يَداهُ في الجودِ ضَرَّتانِ

عَلَيهِ كِلتاهُما تَغارُ
His two hands, in generosity, are rival co-wives;
His hands in generosity are two afflictions,
both are jealous over him.
Both vie over him.

His right hand has never done a thing
The right hand did not come with anything
without his left hand doing the same.
Except the left came with its like.
