بَديهَتُهُhis spontaneous wit مِثلُlike تَفكيرِهِhis deliberation
بَديهَتُهُ مِثلُ تَفكيرِهِ
إِذاwhen رُمتَهُyou seek him فَهُوَthen he مُستَجمِعُfully prepared
إِذا رُمتَهُ فَهُوَ مُستَجمِعُ
His spontaneous wit matches his considered thought.
His spontaneity is like his thought
When you seek him out, he is fully prepared.
When you throw at him, he is collected
وَمِنand from كَفِّهِhis palm لِلحَياfor the rain مَطلَبٌsomething to seek
وَمِن كَفِّهِ لِلحَيا مَطلَبٌ
وَلِلسِرِّand for the secret مِنfrom صَدرِهِhis breast مَوضِعُa place
وَلِلسِرِّ مِن صَدرِهِ مَوضِعُ
And even rain seeks bounty from his palm.
From his palm life seeks
And a secret has a place within his breast.
And his heart has a place for secrets
