They said, “The greatest hope has come to you,

and the radiant youth has won sovereignty,

and the world has clothed itself in beauty through him.”

So I said, “Then Ja'far has indeed risen to power.”

That is the one toward whose reign

our eyes gazed with eager longing.

    Now may sweet slumber delight

whoever stayed awake in hope of him.

O heir to the earth, whose

light now makes its far reaches shine.

They had indeed yearned for a sermon

from you—the royal throne and the pulpit.

So both have now won that

which has no equal as a prize for any victor.

O month of Dhu al-Hijjah, now

the days and months have come to resemble you.

Nothing equals your favor to us through him,

save that which once was, and goes unmentioned.

May you ever remain on people's lips for what

your days have bestowed, as long as they live.
