يُؤَرِّقُهُ التَذَكُّرُ وَالحَنينُ
And one whose heart is divided lets out a moan;
The companion of my heart has a moan
remembrance and longing keep him awake.
That troubles him, remembrance and yearning

His eyes rain with his tears

When a collared dove coos, he is seized by

torments that death breeds.
Contagions afflict it, decaying
حَبَوتُكَI bestowed upon you حُبَّهُhis love ماas long as دُمتُI remain حَيّاًalive
حَبَوتُكَ حُبَّهُ ما دُمتُ حَيّاً
وَإِنّيand indeed I بِالوَفاءِof keeping faith بِهِwith it قَمينُworthy
وَإِنّي بِالوَفاءِ بِهِ قَمينُ
I have bestowed his love upon you for as long as I live,
I loved you as long as I lived
and I am worthy of keeping faith with it.
And I was faithful in that love

فَإِنّي لا أَحولُ وَلا أَخونُ
So if you preserve it, I shall give you more; and if you squander it,
If you keep it I will give you more
then I shall neither change nor betray.
If you lose it, I do not waver or betray
