وَقَدand indeed أَتَتكِhave come to you الهَداياthe gifts مِنfrom مَواليكِyour patrons
Your patrons, O Burhan, have performed the Hajj and the lesser pilgrimage.
Your loved ones have come to worship you, O Light
And gifts have come to you from your patrons.
And gifts have come to you from your loved ones
فَأَتحَفينِيَso give me a gift مِمّاfrom what أَتحَفوكِthey presented you بِهِwith it
وَلاand do not تَكُنbe تُحفَتيmy gift غَيرَother than المَساويكِthe tooth-cleaning sticks
So give me a gift from what they have given you,
So gift me some of what they have gifted you
and let my gift be nothing but tooth-cleaning sticks.
Let my gift be no less than theirs
وَلَستُand I am not أَرضاهُI accept it حَتّىuntil تُرسِلينَyou send بِهِit
مِمّاfrom what جَلاpolished الثَغرَthe teeth أَوor ماwhat جالَmoved about فيin فيكِyour mouth
And I will not accept it until you send me one
And I will not be pleased unless you send
of those that polished your teeth or moved about in your mouth.
What adorns your mouth or dwells in your heart
