عَبدُكَ الفَتحُ كابَدَ اللَيلَ حَتّى

عَبدُكَ الفَتحُ كابَدَ اللَيلَ حَتّى

نالَ مِن جِسمِهِ الضَنى وَالنُحولُ

نالَ مِن جِسمِهِ الضَنى وَالنُحولُ

Your servant al-Fath struggled through the night until

Your slave endured the night until

debility and emaciation took their toll on his body.

emaciation and wasting plagued his body.

فَإِذا ما سَلِمتَ فَهوَ سَليمٌ

فَإِذا ما سَلِمتَ فَهوَ سَليمٌ

وَإِذا ما اِعتَلَلتَ فَهوَ عَليلُ

وَإِذا ما اِعتَلَلتَ فَهوَ عَليلُ

So whenever you are well, he is well,

So if you are well, then he is well,

and whenever you fall ill, he is ill.

and if you are unwell, then he is unwell.
