You have won noble virtues and eminence

    between Hanzalah and Malik.

And you have paired every ancient glory

with your fresh glory, born of your deeds.

And you strove until you became a source of pride

to the great chiefs among your men.

And you coupled your might amid calamities

with the abundance of your bounty.

For water and tawny wine emulate

    your gentleness of character.

And the towering, age-old mountain marvels

    at your composure and forbearance.

You are a sea and a full moon in

your fingers' generosity and in your beauty.

    You advance through dreaded terror,

as though your resolve were one of your blades.

And your counsel lights the night of calamity,

though it is dark-hued and pitch-black.

So may you endure, O crown of kings,

over the subjects and the kingdoms,

    saving the poor from destitution

and the outcast from deadly perils.
