أنتَ والماءُ يا مُجاهِدَ دِينِ

أنتَ والماءُ يا مُجاهِدَ دِينِ

اللّهِ حيَّانِ في حَياةِ الأنامِ

اللّهِ حيَّانِ في حَياةِ الأنامِ

You and water, O champion of the faith

You and water, O fighter of

of God, are two living forces in the life of humankind.

God's religion, are alive among people,

لكِنِ الماءُ غادِرٌ يَجْهلُ النَّفْعَ

لكِنِ الماءُ غادِرٌ يَجْهلُ النَّفْعَ

وبُهْروزُ ذو الحِجا والذِّمام

وبُهْروزُ ذو الحِجا والذِّمام

But water is treacherous, ignorant of benefit,

But water is ignorant of benefit

and Bahruz possesses wisdom and fidelity.

While you wear the apron and turban.

فإذا جارَ كُنتَ قامِعَ طاغيهِ

فإذا جارَ كُنتَ قامِعَ طاغيهِ

وإنْ مدَّ جُدْتَ بالإِنْعامِ

وإنْ مدَّ جُدْتَ بالإِنْعامِ

So when it oversteps its bounds, you quell its raging force,

So if it rages you subdue the tyrant,

and if it rises, you lavish favors.

And if it flows you are generous with favors.
