The Zawra of the Tigris has surely learned that I am
I knew that the falsity of the Tigris
dignified when the clans' judgment grows flighty.
And my dignity when the desires of men have diminished

I turn gently to the ignorant aggressor
and strike the head of the daring armored warrior.
And strike the head of the transgressor

my glory above what offends and harms my earnestness.
For my glory, from one who harms my sanctity

his offenses gave way, in a moment, to apologies.

The needy kept me up at night to help him
while its owner slept through it, keeping no vigil.
While his Lord slept not watching over him

I travelled by night selflessly
and it was fulfilled before dawn revealed a herdsman abroad.
So it came while the morning had no announcer

I ride the backs of resolve before the camels.
Riding the mounts of determination before the cavalry

Does the subdued conceal love for the conqueror?
