فمنْso whoever كانَis ليto me لائماًreproaching فيهُمُconcerning them
فمنْ كانَ لي لائماً فيهُمُ
فإنيthen indeed I أُحِبُّlove بَنيthe children of فاطِمَهْFatimah
فإني أُحِبُّ بَني فاطِمَهْ
So whoever would reproach me on their account—
So he who finds fault with me for loving them
I do indeed love the children of Fatimah:
Know that I love the family of Fatimah
بنيthe children of بنْتِthe daughter of مَنhim who جاءَcame بالبَيِّناwith the clear proofs (continued)
بني بنْتِ مَن جاءَ بالبَيِّنا
تِcompletion of 'clear proofs' والدِّينand the faith والسُّنَنِand the traditions القائمَهْfirmly established
تِ والدِّين والسُّنَنِ القائمَهْ
the children of the daughter of him who brought the clear
The family of the daughter of the one who brought clear proofs
proofs, the faith, and the enduring traditions.
And the religion and enduring traditions
أبوهُمْtheir father مُجَلِّيdispeller of كُروبَthe woes of الحُروبِwars
أبوهُمْ مُجَلِّي كُروبَ الحُروبِ
وطَيرُand the birds of الوَغىbattle بالضُّحىat midmorning حائمَهْcircling
وطَيرُ الوَغى بالضُّحى حائمَهْ
Their father dispels the woes of war,
Their father relieved the anguish of wars
while the birds of battle circle at midmorning.
And the bird of turmoil wandered confused at dawn
يَشُدُّhe charges إذاwhen ذَلَّare cowed فُرْسانُهاits horsemen
يَشُدُّ إذا ذَلَّ فُرْسانُها
ويَحْميand he defends وفُرسانُهاwhile its horsemen خائمَهْshrinking back
ويَحْمي وفُرسانُها خائمَهْ
He charges when its horsemen are cowed,
He strengthens when his horsemen weaken
and defends while its horsemen shrink back.
And his horsemen fiercely defend
وتُفْتيand gives a ruling بَديهَتُهُhis ready wit بالصَّوابِcorrectly إذاwhen
وتُفْتي بَديهَتُهُ بالصَّوابِ إذا
ضَلَّتِgo astray الأنْفُسُthe souls العالمَهْlearned
ضَلَّتِ الأنْفُسُ العالمَهْ
And his ready wit gives sound judgment when
His innate wisdom decides right when
learned souls go astray.
Perplexed souls, however learned, go astray
شُموسُsuns of الهُدىguidance ونُجومُand stars of العُلىeminence
شُموسُ الهُدى ونُجومُ العُلى
إذاwhen دَجَتgrows dark الفِتْنَةُstrife القاتمَهْgloomy
إذا دَجَت الفِتْنَةُ القاتمَهْ
Suns of guidance and stars of eminence,
Suns of guidance and stars of glory
when gloomy strife grows dark.
When the dark strife grows intense
وإنِّيand indeed I لأرْجوsurely hope بحُبِّthrough love for النَّبِّthe Prophet
وإنِّي لأرْجو بحُبِّ النَّبِّ
وحُبِّهُمُand love for them شَرَفُthe nobility of الخاتمَهْthe ending
وحُبِّهُمُ شَرَفُ الخاتمَهْ
And I do indeed hope, through love for the Prophet
And I hope for honor in the end
and love for them, for a noble ending.
