Shall I leave the reviver of justice, while longing guides me

To him? I must indeed be a lover of great endurance!

And turn the pale camels’ necks away from the station of glory?

Surely my prudence would be far from a judgment I had weighed.

And wherever I may be, I do indeed praise his glory,

With praise surpassing the fragrance of gardens—

The glory of ʿImād al-Dīn, the striker of necks,

When blood is the ground and the sky is dust.

So if I am absent from the assembly of his eminence, then I am

Through my praise, dwelling in his shelter, ever present.
