    as Rajab follows Rajab,

    forever, as long as the morning sun rises

    and a star rises on the horizon and sets,

    أحْرَزَ المجْدَ بسَعْيٍ ونَسبْ

    through the continued life of the eminent lord, who

    has won glory through striving and lineage;

    في الخطوب الدُّهْم والغُبْر الشُّهب

    whose neighbor is secure and whose bounty is freely given

    amid black calamities and dust-gray, ashen ones;

    who lavishly gives abundant wealth without being asked for it,

    and when the offense is grave, he pardons.

    ʿAḍud al-Dīn, whose beneficence

    drives out poverty and slays hunger.

    Just in judgment, he is not swayed

    by the litigant’s obstinacy or anger’s recklessness.

    His might and bounty, issuing from his palm,

    wherever he is, are life and destruction.

    مِلْؤُها منهُ رَجاءٌ ورَهَبْ

    And he is a magnanimous man whose courtyards have never ceased

    to be filled with hope and dread inspired by him;

    and he is far from the shame of base deeds,

    and close to eminence and glory.
