May God reward on my behalf one of Hashim's noblest,
May Allah reward me for the virtues of Hashim's clan,
rich in wisdom, whose noble deeds exhaust all telling.
Generous in advice, their nobility makes conversation delightful.

He was lavish in kindness, while poverty restrained
They are open-handed with kindness and hold back nothing,
his hands; even his supplicant reproaches him for giving.
So pardon them if they are blamed for their generosity.

عدواً ويغدو الخطبُ وهو مُسالمهْ
His goodness is such that it revives a friend and embraces
They bring life with the good they do for a friend or foe,
an enemy; even calamity comes to be at peace with him.
And go about their affairs peacefully.

His bounty drives away the gaunt camels of the years,
The flow of years cannot withstand their support
when its clouds sweep over the drought-stricken camp.
When the barren land is visited by its clouds.

A shrewd, hard-striking man: in crises and against necks,
Deft and shrewd in events and experiences,
his swords are keen, and so are his resolves.
Their swords gleam and their resolves are firm.

تَضايقُ عنها للوفودِ مواسمهْ
A young man whose hours are filled with favors,
A young man whose hours are filled with noble deeds
his seasons for delegations are too narrow to contain them.
Too confining for seekers when he holds audience.

As though perfume were unsealed from the fragrance of his honor,
As if a perfume seller emptied his flask,
its perfume-laden caravans wafting scent in the late afternoon.
And the pure original scent wafted forth.

He pardoned and struck, until onward to glory went
He forgave and remained composed until he rose high,
his deadly assaults and his acts of mercy in his time.
His daggers in his time and his acts of mercy.

At the sight of him, calamities become delights,
Seeing him, worries become delights,
and unyielding Time is forgiven its crimes.
And the stubborn age has its crimes forgiven.

So may the minister's sandal never slip, for he is
So do not stumble at the minister's slippers,
the refuge of the fugitive whose shelters have abandoned him.
For his strongholds are a refuge for the hunted.
