هنيئاً لك الأيامُ طُراً ففخرها

هنيئاً لك الأيامُ طُراً ففخرها

بقاؤكَ فيها للصيامِ وللفِطْرِ

بقاؤكَ فيها للصيامِ وللفِطْرِ

May all the days be joyful for you; their glory

Congratulations on days that bring you pride

Is your enduring presence in them, for fasting and for breaking the fast.

For fasting in them and breaking fast as well

ولا زلتَ محمود المساعي ومُنْجِح ال

ولا زلتَ محمود المساعي ومُنْجِح ال

مباغي ومحسودَ المناقبِ والفخْرِ

مباغي ومحسودَ المناقبِ والفخْرِ

And may you ever be praised for your endeavors and fulfill the

Your endeavors still bring praise and success

aims, envied for your virtues and glory.

With merits and pride that make envy swell

تخاف سلطاك البيض وهي صوارمٌ

تخاف سلطاك البيض وهي صوارمٌ

ويحسد جدواكَ الغمامُ مع القطر

ويحسد جدواكَ الغمامُ مع القطر

The bright swords fear your might, though they are keen-edged;

Your white swords make rulers scared and wary

And the clouds, along with the rain, envy your bounty.

While clouds and rain envy your bounty

فانك اِما صرَّح الجدبُ والرَّدى

فانك اِما صرَّح الجدبُ والرَّدى

هزمتهما بالجود منكَ وبالنَّصرِ

هزمتهما بالجود منكَ وبالنَّصرِ

For whenever drought and death declare themselves,

When drought and ruin spread their wretched claws

You defeat them both with your generosity and with victory.

Your generosity and might defeat their cause

إذا ما بهاءُ الدين شدَّ عليهما

إذا ما بهاءُ الدين شدَّ عليهما

غدا العزُّ والنَّعماء بالخوف والفقر

غدا العزُّ والنَّعماء بالخوف والفقر

Whenever Baha al-Din charges against them both,

When the light of faith assails their wretched plight

Glory and prosperity take the place of fear and poverty.

Honor and bounty replace their fear and blight

فأضحى طريد الأرض ذا قعسريةٍ

فأضحى طريد الأرض ذا قعسريةٍ

من العز والمُقوي الضَّريكُ أخا دثر

من العز والمُقوي الضَّريكُ أخا دثر

So the earth's outcast gains great might

The scorned outcast tastes esteem at last

Through honor, and the destitute wretch becomes a man of riches.

As the strong and mighty befriend him fast

فتىً ألَّف العلياء وهي شواردٌ

فتىً ألَّف العلياء وهي شواردٌ

فأحرزَها بين المكاسبِ والنَّجْرِ

فأحرزَها بين المكاسبِ والنَّجْرِ

A youth who gathered lofty honors while they strayed,

A wayward youth you befriended and taught

And secured them through both achievement and ancestry.

Securing him with gains and wisdom fraught

فللسَّعي نشر كالخمائل في الدجى

فللسَّعي نشر كالخمائل في الدجى

وكم تكلَّفتُه حملاً فلم اُطِقِ

وكم تكلَّفتُه حملاً فلم اُطِقِ

So endeavor has a fragrance like lush groves in the dark,

Like stars you shine to light the darkest night

And how often I undertook to bear it, yet could not.

Despite the heavy burden and my lack of might

وعند أبي الفضل الجواد أخي الندى

وعند أبي الفضل الجواد أخي الندى

زوائدُ شتى من خلائقهِ الزُّهْر

زوائدُ شتى من خلائقهِ الزُّهْر

And Abu al-Fadl, the generous, brother of bounty, has

My brother, from kind Abu Al-Fadl springs

Diverse further gifts among his radiant qualities:

Virtues and traits that make the flowers sing

أناةٌ واِقدامٌ ولِينٌ وشِدَّةٌ

أناةٌ واِقدامٌ ولِينٌ وشِدَّةٌ

وعونٌ على الأيام في العسر واليسر

وعونٌ على الأيام في العسر واليسر

Deliberation and boldness, gentleness and firmness,

Patience, courage, softness, fortitude

And help in facing the days, in hardship and ease.

And aid for days of hardship and gratitude
