إذا المرءُ لم يُرزقْ مع الأيدِ همَّةً

إذا المرءُ لم يُرزقْ مع الأيدِ همَّةً

فلا شرفٌ في الأيدِ منه ولا فخرُ

فلا شرفٌ في الأيدِ منه ولا فخرُ

If a man is not granted ambition along with strength,

Roaming without ambition in open spaces

there is no honor in his strength, nor any glory.

Is no glory for hands, nor a boast.

ألمْ ترَ أنَّ البازَ يسمو لصيْدهِ

ألمْ ترَ أنَّ البازَ يسمو لصيْدهِ

عزيزاً ويهوي نحو جيفتهِ النَّسْر

عزيزاً ويهوي نحو جيفتهِ النَّسْر

Have you not seen that the hawk soars for its prey,

Hast thou not seen how the falcon soars high

nobly, while the vulture swoops down toward its carrion?

To capture its prey, then swoops down on its flesh, dead?
