My resolve, if the sword fails it, blazes fiercely;
A keen blade: if the sword fails, he defends.
my rain cloud, if the rain withholds itself, pours.
A rain cloud: if the rain withholds, he pours down.

My timid self draws back from every disgrace,
He holds back from every disgrace, shrinking away;
but once it glimpses glory, it strides forward.
But when he perceives glory, he advances.

He fills souls and hands when
it is stirred—whether as a torrent of death or of bounty.
Provoked or petitioned—with death or bounty.

Towering above a mountain, my weighty forbearance outweighs it;
Towering from a mountain of weighty forbearance,
and my fury is a violent gale once resolved.
And a tempest, a violent gale, when he resolves.

Praise from me is indeed a coveted prize; to win it,
If a goal lies far beyond his reach,
men turn their pale camels from the road and spur their aspirations onward.
He sets the pale camels aside and urges his ambitions onward.

An ocean of excellence and generosity: if
a petitioner stirs it, overflows in either of its states.
A petitioner rouses him, he overflows in both his states.

It lavishes pearls while rich and able,
He gives abundant wealth when rich and able,
without vaunting its favors, and gives even when destitute.
Without reproaching others with his favors—and gives even when destitute.

In either state it displays valor and generosity—
He dispels both plights with might and bounty:
in ash-gray drought and in a garden deep green.
Ash-gray drought and dust-dark terror.

Whenever it encounters seekers of bounty and foes,
Whenever he meets petitioners and foes,
its two hands stream with gifts and blood.
His two palms flow with bounty and blood.
