ولما أناخَ الدهرُ كَلْكَلَ بأسِهِ

عليكُم وقال الناس قد عثر الجَدُّ

And when Time lowered its mighty breast

Upon you, and people said, "Good fortune has stumbled,"

تَداركَهُ الرَّحمن من آل سلْجقٍ

تَداركَهُ الرَّحمن من آل سلْجقٍ

بأبْلج يحْلو في شَمائله الحَمْدُ

بأبْلج يحْلو في شَمائله الحَمْدُ

The All-Merciful restored it through one of Seljuk's house,

A radiant man whose virtues lend sweetness to praise.

فلا بَرِحَ العِزُّ المنيعُ بُيوتكُمْ

فلا بَرِحَ العِزُّ المنيعُ بُيوتكُمْ

ولا خاب في قدحِ الرَّجاء لكم زنْد

ولا خاب في قدحِ الرَّجاء لكم زنْد

So may unassailable glory never leave your homes,

Nor may a firestick fail you in kindling hope.

لوى الدهر حقِّي في أبيكم وعندكُمْ

لوى الدهر حقِّي في أبيكم وعندكُمْ

وتلك التي يَرْدى بأيسرها الوِدُّ

وتلك التي يَرْدى بأيسرها الوِدُّ

Time has withheld my due at your father's hands and yours,

And even the least of that is enough to kill affection.

وقد علمتْ عُلْيا قريشٍ مواقفي

وقد علمتْ عُلْيا قريشٍ مواقفي

بحمدكم والشكر إذْ خَرِس اللُّدُّ

بحمدكم والشكر إذْ خَرِس اللُّدُّ

And the noblest of Quraysh know the stands I took

In praising you and giving thanks, when bitter foes fell silent,

وخوضي غِمار الموت فيكمْ مُقَحِّماً

وخوضي غِمار الموت فيكمْ مُقَحِّماً

وقد رهِبتْ أولى طلائعه الأُسْدُ

وقد رهِبتْ أولى طلائعه الأُسْدُ

And my plunging headlong into death's depths for your sake,

Though lions feared its very first scouts.

وما أدَّعيهِ غيرُ خافٍ مكانُهُ

وما أدَّعيهِ غيرُ خافٍ مكانُهُ

وهل لضياء الصبح من ناظرٍ جَحْد

وهل لضياء الصبح من ناظرٍ جَحْد

And what I claim stands plainly in view;

And can any beholder deny the radiance of dawn?

وبيْتُكمُ سَنَّ الوفَاءَ ومِنْكُمُ

وبيْتُكمُ سَنَّ الوفَاءَ ومِنْكُمُ

إذا عُدَّ أخْلاقُ العُلى عُرف العهْد

إذا عُدَّ أخْلاقُ العُلى عُرف العهْد

And your house established loyalty; through you,

When noble virtues are counted, fidelity is known.
