تبدَّلَ مُرْهفُ العَزماتِ حزْماً

تبدَّلَ مُرْهفُ العَزماتِ حزْماً

وتختلفُ السَّجايا بالزَّمانِ

وتختلفُ السَّجايا بالزَّمانِ

He of keen resolve has turned to prudence,

Roaming desires once headstrong

and temperaments change with time.

Now waver with the winds of time

وكنتُ أجيلُها مُتَمطِّراتٍ

وكنتُ أجيلُها مُتَمطِّراتٍ

فها أنا لا أفَرِّطُ في العِنانِ

فها أنا لا أفَرِّطُ في العِنانِ

And I used to wheel them at full gallop,

Once I regarded them as showers

so here I am, not letting the reins go slack.

Yet now, I hold tight the reins
