Steadfast in his seat, his composure is not unsettled
His resolve is steadfast, not stirred to impatience,
by calamities’ turbulence, nor does difficulty alarm him.
The rashness of events does not alarm him.

Vigilant—every ordeal is vanquished by his
Awake, he defeats every hateful thing -
judgment, decisive valor, and trust in God.
A resolute mind, might and trust in God.

Before his daring and resolve, alike are
In his daring and determination,
a lone horseman and a vast, massed army.
The epitome of chivalry and Thursday's hero.

So it is as though, in his seat of state and his council,
In his hand and his help,
he were Mount Thahlan and Mount Yadhbul amid terrors.
As if there were a fertilizing rain for the terrified and withering.

والصُّبْحَand the dawn رفْعُthe rising دخانهof his smoke والقسطَلand the battle-dust
The sun, and the stars by night, are veiled,
He hides the gazelles and stars in the darkness,
and the dawn, by his rising smoke and battle-dust.
And dawn is the rising of his smoke and rest.

So, with his enemies and his she-camels, there seethes
So from his enemies and rivals
in his two roles a battlefield or a cauldron.
In both states there is battle or truce.

Thus the armored warriors on his battlefield and his high-humped pregnant she-camels
The leftovers of his battle and the tufts of his encampment
are food for the guest and the soaring birds.
Are food for the guest and hovering birds.

فَحباهُso he bestowed upon him رتْبتهُhis rank المُطاعُthe obeyed ruler العَبْهَلُunfettered

So the Most High granted him his obeyed position.

So the captive rejoiced, and sure of protection was
Rejoice, O afflicted one, and feel safe from fever -
an offender; and a destitute man grew rich through lavish gifts.
A protector and bestower of desires to the hopeful.

So may you remain, O sapling of the caliphate, standing firm
So you remained, O scion of the caliphate, established
in glory; the Eternal, the First, protects you.
In glory, protected by the First and Ancient.
