وإِني مع الإِعْراض عني لَمُقْبلٌ

إلى الوِدِّ مَلآنُ الفصاحة بالشُّكْرِ

إلى الوِدِّ مَلآنُ الفصاحة بالشُّكْرِ

And though I am shunned, I still turn

Though you've turned from me, I'm still inclined

toward affection, my eloquence brimming with gratitude.

To thankfulness - my eloquence overflows.

أزيدُ على صَدِّ الوزيرِ صَبابةً

أزيدُ على صَدِّ الوزيرِ صَبابةً

وربُّ الهوى يزداد وجداً مع الهجرِ

وربُّ الهوى يزداد وجداً مع الهجرِ

I yearn still more in the face of the minister's rejection,

More patient than the minister I've been,

and the lover's longing deepens with estrangement.

And love within me grows as estrangement grows.
