وماand not يدفعُaverts المقدورَwhat is decreed حزْمٌprudence وانماand only
وما يدفعُ المقدورَ حزْمٌ وانما
بهthrough it يؤمنُis guarded against التَّعنيفُreproach منfrom كلevery لائمِfault-finder
به يؤمنُ التَّعنيفُ من كل لائمِ
And prudence does not avert what is decreed; it only
No resolution repels destiny's decree,
keeps one safe from the reproach of every fault-finder.
Rather with censure from each blamer he agrees.
