The noble steeds sway, until it seems
The horses gallop as though they sense
they have sipped pure wine from Babylon's choicest vintage.
A scent of wine from the jar of Babylon,

When Qutb al-Din rides upon their backs
When the Pole Star shines in their meadows
toward a stand amid spears and sword blades:
To a battlefield between spear and sword.

كثيف الغوادي أو كثيف الجحافل
a youth who surpassed both dark masses in bounty and valor—
A youth who excels all in generosity and aid

With abundant tents or abundant regiments.

For drought, he offers abundant, pouring rain that never ceases;
For drought he has flowing, unstinting generosity
and for war, blazing might that never flinches.
And for war, intense, unhalting valor.

So he was a cloud, its lightning the cheer upon his face,
He was a rain cloud, happiness the lightning of his face,

And the direction of his life poured his generosity on the tribes.

Thus the festivals were congratulated on having in him a noble man,
The feasts congratulated themselves on him for glorious
whose house-pillar stands high, a gallant and mighty chief.
Lofty pillar of the house, supple branch.
