يَلينُhe is gentle فيin القْولِspeech ويحْنوand he bends tenderly علىtoward
يَلينُ في القْولِ ويحْنو على
سامِعِهِhis listener وهوwhile he لهُto him يقْصِمُcrushhes
سامِعِهِ وهو لهُ يقْصِمُ
He is gentle in speech and bends tenderly toward
his listener, even as he crushes him—
كشوْكةِlike the sting of العقْربِthe scorpion فيin شكلهاits shape
كشوْكةِ العقْربِ في شكلها
فَرْطُan excess of حُنُوٍّbending; tenderness وهيyet it لاdoes not ترْحَمُshow mercy
فَرْطُ حُنُوٍّ وهي لا ترْحَمُ
like a scorpion's sting, whose shape shows
an excess of tender bending, yet it has no mercy.
