أبَرَّ صَلاحُ الدِّينِ وابْنُ صَلاحِهِ

أبَرَّ صَلاحُ الدِّينِ وابْنُ صَلاحِهِ

ببَأسٍ شَهيرٍ في الحُروبِ ونائلِ

ببَأسٍ شَهيرٍ في الحُروبِ ونائلِ

Salah al-Din and the son of his righteousness outdid

Saladin and his son shone

With valor renowned in wars and with bounty,

With famous valor in wars and gained

لِعافٍ وقِرْنٍ في نِزالٍ وأزْمَةٍ

لِعافٍ وقِرْنٍ في نِزالٍ وأزْمَةٍ

على الجَوْدِ من صَوْبِ الحَيا والمَناصِل

على الجَوْدِ من صَوْبِ الحَيا والمَناصِل

For suppliant and rival, in combat and hardship,

Victory and esteem in battles and crises

The generosity of falling rain and sword-blades.

With generosity from the direction of life and reconciliation

فيْومَ نَداهُ مُنْعِمٌ غيرُ باخِلٍ

فيْومَ نَداهُ مُنْعِمٌ غيرُ باخِلٍ

ويومَ وغاهُ مُقْدِمٌ غيرُ ناكِلِ

ويومَ وغاهُ مُقْدِمٌ غيرُ ناكِلِ

So on his day of giving, he bestows favors, never stingy;

One day he generously hosted

And on his day of battle, he advances boldly, never shrinking back.

Another he valiantly led

فتىً أحْرَزَ الغاياتِ منْ مَجْدِ قوْمِهِ

فتىً أحْرَزَ الغاياتِ منْ مَجْدِ قوْمِهِ

وفاقَ بمسْعاهُ مَقامَ الأوائلِ

وفاقَ بمسْعاهُ مَقامَ الأوائلِ

A young man who attained the utmost heights of his people's glory,

A young man who achieved the ultimate glory for his people

And through his striving surpassed the rank of his predecessors.

And exceeded in his ambitions the highest positions

وبَثَّ الأيادي بينَ حِمْصٍ ومكَّةٍ

وبَثَّ الأيادي بينَ حِمْصٍ ومكَّةٍ

مُغِذَّاً فأحْيا كُلَّ جَدْب وماحِلِ

مُغِذَّاً فأحْيا كُلَّ جَدْب وماحِلِ

And he spread benefactions between Homs and Mecca,

He motivated in Homs and Mecca

Hastening onward, he revived every barren and drought-stricken land.

Reviving every barren and desolate place

وآبَ منَ البيتِ الحَرامِ وأجْرُهُ

وآبَ منَ البيتِ الحَرامِ وأجْرُهُ

كَجدْوى يديْهِ واصِبٌ غيرُ زائلِ

كَجدْوى يديْهِ واصِبٌ غيرُ زائلِ

And he returned from the Sacred House, and his reward,

He returned from the Sacred House, his reward

Like the bounty of his two hands, is lasting, never fading.

Like the usefulness of his hands, constant, unceasing

فما زالَتِ العَلْياءُ يا ابْنَ مُحمَّدٍ

فما زالَتِ العَلْياءُ يا ابْنَ مُحمَّدٍ

مُصَرَّفَةً بين الوَغى والمحَافِلِ

مُصَرَّفَةً بين الوَغى والمحَافِلِ

So lofty glory, O son of Muhammad, has never ceased

So the supremacy, oh son of Muhammad

To be apportioned between battle and assemblies.

Continued to alternate between tumult and gatherings
