How can I forget you, when the favors gleam white—

bright blazes like stars in the darkness?

From Mu'ayyid al-Din he brought them to me—

ablaze in battle, cool in bounty.

So his protection and the flood of his hands' generosity

have never ceased to offer succor and gifts.

Bright of face and lineage, you find him

gracious in welcome and noble in ancestry.

His judgment and the reed pen upon the page have surpassed

India's blades and spears in keenness.

He surpasses fire in wrath, yet

in affection he has the gentleness of water.

So may the Marzban, through God's bounty,

have a shield that wards off the evil of fate.
