هنيئاً لأيامِ المَناسكِ والتي
تعُمُّencompass سُروراًwith joy منthose قريبٍnear وشاسعِand far away
تعُمُّ سُروراً من قريبٍ وشاسعِ
Happy are the days of pilgrimage rites, and those that
Congratulations on the days of rituals, which
bring joy to people near and far,
Spread joy far and wide
بَقاؤكَyour enduring مَضَّاءَdecisive العَزائمresolves نافِذَeffective الأوthe com- (start of 'commands')
بَقاؤكَ مَضَّاءَ العَزائم نافِذَ الأو
امر-mands (end of 'commands') صعْبَformidable البأسَbattle-might ضخْمَabundant الدَّسائعِgenerous gifts
امر صعْبَ البأسَ ضخْمَ الدَّسائعِ
as you endure—decisive in resolve, obeyed in your com-
Your resolve remains shining, enforcing authority
mands, formidable in battle, lavish in gifts.
A formidable, stalwart commander
تجودyou give generously وتحميand you protect حينwhen لاno جونdark مُزنةٍa raincloud
تجود وتحمي حين لا جون مُزنةٍ
بمُعْطٍa giver ولاnor بأسُthe might of المُطاعِthe one obeyed بمانعِa protector
بمُعْطٍ ولا بأسُ المُطاعِ بمانعِ
You give generously and protect when no dark raincloud
You give generously and protect when there is no cowardice
gives, nor does an obeyed leader's might protect.
With bounty, and obedience is not hindered by harm
وأرحضتمand you washed away اللأواءhardship وهيwhile it is شنيعةdreadful
وأرحضتم اللأواء وهي شنيعة
بكلwith every ندىًgift غَمرٍabundant رشيدِwisely directed المَواقعِplaces of bestowal
بكل ندىً غَمرٍ رشيدِ المَواقعِ
And you have washed away hardship, dreadful as it was,
You have made the banners, though odious
with every abundant gift, wisely bestowed.
Shine with every blessed, well-guided location
يحُلُّcome بكَto you العافونَseekers of bounty فيin كلevery أزْمةٍcrisis
يحُلُّ بكَ العافونَ في كل أزْمةٍ
بأرْوعَto a splendid man فيَّاضِoverflowing with المكارمِnoble deeds نافِعِbeneficent
بأرْوعَ فيَّاضِ المكارمِ نافِعِ
Seekers of bounty come to you in every crisis,
Good fortune comes to you in every crisis
to a splendid, beneficent man, overflowing with noble deeds,
With the most wondrous overflow of noble deeds
بأغلبَto a mighty lion منfrom آلthe house of المُظفَّرِal-Muzaffar شَأنهُhis concern
بأغلبَ من آل المُظفَّرِ شَأنهُ
بناءُbuilding المعاليlofty honors واغْتنامُand seizing الصَّنائعِacts of kindness
بناءُ المعالي واغْتنامُ الصَّنائعِ
to a lion of the house of al-Muzaffar, whose concern is
With the most dominant descendant of the Triumphant Family
building lofty honors and embracing deeds of kindness.
Whose work is the building of glories and seizing of achievements
مُنازلهُhis opponent منbecause of خوفهِfear of him غيرُnot شامِخٍhaughty
مُنازلهُ من خوفهِ غيرُ شامِخٍ
وسائلهُand his petitioner منْthrough وجودهِhis presence غيرُnot كانِعِabased
وسائلهُ منْ وجودهِ غيرُ كانِعِ
His opponent, for fear of him, is not haughty,
His dwellings do not stand tall for fear of him
and his petitioner, through his presence, is not abased:
His paths do not spread wide for his existence
أبيAbu (father of) الفرجِal-Faraj (relief) الحاميthe protector of حقيقةَthe essence of مجْدهِhis glory
أبي الفرجِ الحامي حقيقةَ مجْدهِ
مُفرجreliever of كربٍdistress منfrom ضَريكٍa destitute person وجازعand a distraught person
مُفرج كربٍ من ضَريكٍ وجازع
Abu al-Faraj, who safeguards the essence of his glory,
Abu Al Faraj, the true protector of his glory
who relieves the distress of the destitute and the distraught.
Relieving hardship for the troubled and sorrowful
يشيمانِthe two watch for rain منهfrom him مُزْنةًa raincloud عَضُديَّةًʿAḍudī (of ʿAḍud)
يشيمانِ منه مُزْنةً عَضُديَّةً
فيُغْنيهماso he makes both independent عنof كلevery هامٍrain-pouring cloud وقاطعِand cutting sword
فيُغْنيهما عن كل هامٍ وقاطعِ
Both look to him for an ʿAḍudī raincloud,
He fulfills support to the Regency
so he spares both the need for any pouring cloud or cutting sword.
Enriching it beyond any wavering or prevention
اذاwhen يمَّماهاboth turn toward it فيin الظَّلامِthe darkness تألَّقَتْit gleams
اذا يمَّماها في الظَّلامِ تألَّقَتْ
بمُنْبلجٍwith a radiance منْfrom واضحِmanifest الشرevil لامعِgleaming
بمُنْبلجٍ منْ واضحِ الشر لامعِ
When both turn toward it in the darkness, it gleams
When they face darkness, they shine
with a shining radiance from manifest evil.
With unveiled, brilliant illumination
فلاso may not بَرِحتْهُleave him دولةٌsovereignty مُطْمئنَّةٌtranquil
فلا بَرِحتْهُ دولةٌ مُطْمئنَّةٌ
ولاand may not زالَcease to be فيin سامٍa lofty height منof العِزِّglory فارعِtowering
ولا زالَ في سامٍ من العِزِّ فارعِ
So may tranquil sovereignty never leave him,
Neither has any assured state left him
and may he ever remain in lofty, towering glory.
Nor has he ceased to rise highly in honor
