قدِ اسْتبانَ الحقُّ لِلْمبصِرِ

قدِ اسْتبانَ الحقُّ لِلْمبصِرِ

فهل تُرى يُقلعُ قَلْبي الجري

فهل تُرى يُقلعُ قَلْبي الجري

The truth has become clear to the discerning.

The truth has been made clear for the discerning one,

So will my daring heart desist, I wonder?

So will my negligent heart desist its wandering?

ما هَذه الجُرأةُ يا قلبُ لو

ما هَذه الجُرأةُ يا قلبُ لو

تركتَها لِلْفزَع الأكْبرِ

تركتَها لِلْفزَع الأكْبرِ

What is this audacity, O heart? If only

What is this boldness, O heart! If only

you would set it aside for the greatest terror!

You left it for the greatest dread.

يا أيّها المذْنب ما لي أَرى

يا أيّها المذْنب ما لي أَرى

أَمْنكَ مِنْ ذنبكَ أَمْنَ البَرِي

أَمْنكَ مِنْ ذنبكَ أَمْنَ البَرِي

O sinner, why do I see

O guilty one, why do I see

you as unafraid of your sin as the innocent?

Your safety from your guilt like the innocent one's?

ضيّعتَ في اللَّذاتِ وقتَ الصبّا

ضيّعتَ في اللَّذاتِ وقتَ الصبّا

ورحتَ في الّلهوِ ولَمْ تُقصِرِ

ورحتَ في الّلهوِ ولَمْ تُقصِرِ

You wasted the time of youth in pleasures,

You wasted in pleasures the time of youth,

and went on in diversion without desisting.

And went about in vanity, and did not shorten [worldly enjoyment].

فتُبْ إلى اللهِ وخَفْ مكرَهُ

فتُبْ إلى اللهِ وخَفْ مكرَهُ

وابْكِ على ذَنبكَ واستَغْفِر

وابْكِ على ذَنبكَ واستَغْفِر

So repent to God and fear His stratagem,

So repent to God, and fear His cunning,

and weep over your sin and seek forgiveness.

And weep over your sin, and seek forgiveness,

والْبِسْ دروعَ الحزنِ مِنْ خَوفِهِ

والْبِسْ دروعَ الحزنِ مِنْ خَوفِهِ

تُغْنِكَ عن درعٍ وعن مِغْفَرِ

تُغْنِكَ عن درعٍ وعن مِغْفَرِ

And don sorrow's coats of mail out of fear of Him;

And put on the armor of sorrow out of fear of Him;

they will spare you the need for a coat of mail and a helmet.

It will avail you instead of armor and forgiveness.
