فدونك منهُ سفرٌ لا يُسَامى

يجلّ عن المشابهِ والنظيرِ

So take from him a volume that cannot be rivaled.

It bears for you a peerless book

It stands far above any likeness or peer.

That shines beyond all parity,

يجرّ على البَديع ذيول فخرٍ

يجرّ على البَديع ذيول فخرٍ

ويحفرُ عنده وشي الحريري

ويحفرُ عنده وشي الحريري

It trails the hems of pride over al-Badi‘,

Trailing on rhetorical glory,

And beside it, al-Hariri’s embroidery is engraved.
