فلا رفَع المهيمنُ لي مناراً

فلا رفَع المهيمنُ لي مناراً

ولا نِلْتُ المرامَ من العُلوّ

ولا نِلْتُ المرامَ من العُلوّ

So may the Guardian raise no beacon for me,

Neither did the Almighty raise a minaret for me

nor may I attain the eminence I seek.

Nor did I attain what I hoped for in elevation

ومَهما قلتُ فيه فلا أبالي

ومَهما قلتُ فيه فلا أبالي

لأنّي قد أمنتُ مِن الغُلُوِّ

لأنّي قد أمنتُ مِن الغُلُوِّ

And whatever I say of him, I have no misgivings,

And whatever I say about it matters not to me

for I am safe from exaggeration.

For I am now safe from going too far
