أغرّ حلْو اللَّمى رقيقٌ

أغرّ حلْو اللَّمى رقيقٌ

لِلْبدرِ مِن حُسْنه التمامُ

لِلْبدرِ مِن حُسْنه التمامُ

Radiant, with sweetly dusky lips, and tender;

The sweetness of love allures me,

The full moon draws its fullness from his beauty.

so perfect is its beauty like the full moon.

يحقّ لي أَنْ أهيمَ فيهِ

يحقّ لي أَنْ أهيمَ فيهِ

وحُقّ في مثله الهيامُ

وحُقّ في مثله الهيامُ

It is right for me to be enamored of him,

It is my right to be infatuated by it,

And passionate love is justified for one like him.

and it's the right of passions to be obsessed with the likes of it.
