ياO مَنyou who بطولِthrough the length of التَّجافيestrangement
يا مَن بطولِ التَّجافي
والهجرِand abandonment أمرضmade ill صبَّهْhis ardent lover
والهجرِ أمرض صبَّهْ
O you who, through long estrangement
O you who with long estrangement
And abandonment, have made your ardent lover ill,
And parting made my passion sick,
أنتَyou الطبيبُthe physician فمَنْso who ليfor me
أنتَ الطبيبُ فمَنْ لي
منfrom ريقِsaliva فيكَyour mouth بشرْبَهْwith a draught
من ريقِ فيكَ بشرْبَهْ
You are the physician—so who will bring me
You are the doctor; who but you
A draught of the saliva of your mouth?
Can give me now the healing draught?
