ياO طالباًseeker لِلّرزقِof sustenance إنif تَرُمyou seek العَطاlargesse
يا طالباً لِلّرزقِ إن تَرُم العَطا
مِنfrom غيرother than أحمدAhmad فاقْتنعْthen be content بالدّونِwith little
مِن غير أحمد فاقْتنعْ بالدّونِ
O seeker of sustenance, if you seek largesse
O seeker of livelihood, if you desire gifts
From anyone but Ahmad, then be content with little.
From other than Ahmed, be content with less
لاdo not تأْمَلَنّever hope for ندىbounty الكرامِthe noble فإنّماfor only
لا تأْمَلَنّ ندى الكرامِ فإنّما
أخذواthey took المكارمnoble virtues عَنfrom وصفيّWasfi الدينal-Din (the faith)
أخذوا المكارم عَن وصفيّ الدين
Never hope for the bounty of the noble, for they merely
Do not expect generosity's bounty, for verily
Took their noble virtues from Wasfi al-Din.
The generous took their virtues from my master, the Faith
