أنا غيظُ كلّ مُناصِبٍ

أنا غيظُ كلّ مُناصِبٍ

وأنا السَّبيلُ إلى الجنانِ

وأنا السَّبيلُ إلى الجنانِ

I am the vexation of every hostile foe,

I am the anger of every slanderer,

And I am the path to Paradise.

And I am the path to Paradise,

وأنا الصَّحيحُ عن النبي

وأنا الصَّحيحُ عن النبي

الْمَيْعوثِ بالسَّبْعِ المثاني

الْمَيْعوثِ بالسَّبْعِ المثاني

And I am the authentic tradition from the Prophet,

And I am the truth from the Prophet,

Sent with the seven oft-repeated verses.

The one sent with the Seven Oft Repeated.

أنا عَن عليّ ذي العُلَى

أنا عَن عليّ ذي العُلَى

لا عَنْ فلانٍ أو فُلانِ

لا عَنْ فلانٍ أو فُلانِ

I am from Ali, possessor of lofty rank,

I am from Ali the most High,

Not from so-and-so or so-and-so.

Not from so-and-so or someone else.

أنا دينُ آلِ محمدٍ

أنا دينُ آلِ محمدٍ

سفنُ النَّجا شهْبُ الأمانِ

سفنُ النَّجا شهْبُ الأمانِ

I am the faith of Muhammad's family,

I am the religion of Muhammad's family,

Ships of salvation, shooting stars of safety.

The ships of salvation, the shooting star of safety.

وأنا القرينُ برغم آنافِ

وأنا القرينُ برغم آنافِ

النّواصِب لِلْقُرانِ

النّواصِب لِلْقُرانِ

And I am the companion—in spite of the noses

And I am the companion in spite of the noses

Of Ali's foes—of the Qur'an.

Of the hostile ones to the Quran.

أنا غُرّةُ التّاجِ المكّل

أنا غُرّةُ التّاجِ المكّل

درةً العِقْد الجُماني

درةً العِقْد الجُماني

I am the radiant jewel of the adorned crown,

I am the jewel of the complete crown,

The pearl of the pearl-strung necklace.

A pearl in the perfect necklace.

هَلْ من مُجارٍ أو مُبَارٍ أو

هَلْ من مُجارٍ أو مُبَارٍ أو

مُسَامٍ أو مُداني

مُسَامٍ أو مُداني

Is there one to keep pace, or a competitor, or

Is there a reproacher, or challenger, or

A rival in eminence, or one who comes close?

Critic, or condemner?

هَيْهات كلٌّ قاصِرٌ

هَيْهات كلٌّ قاصِرٌ

عَنْ غَلوتي يوم الرِّهان

عَنْ غَلوتي يوم الرِّهان

Far from it! Everyone falls short

Alas! All fall short

Of my reach on the day of the contest.

Of my loftiness on the day of the wager.

بي يَهتَدي بي يقْتَدي

بي يَهتَدي بي يقْتَدي

الثقلانِ من إنسٍ وجان

الثقلانِ من إنسٍ وجان

Through me they find guidance; they take me as their model—

By me is guidance found, by me following,

The two kinds of beings, humans and jinn.

Both mankind and jinn.

أيُقاسَ بي ظُلماً من الكُتبِ

أيُقاسَ بي ظُلماً من الكُتبِ

الجديدةِ ما عَداني

الجديدةِ ما عَداني

Can any of the books be unjustly compared with me—

Can injustice be compared to me

The new ones, other than myself?

From the new scriptures besides me?

كلاّ وآيات المثاني

كلاّ وآيات المثاني

ليسَ لي في الكُتْب ثاني

ليسَ لي في الكُتْب ثاني

No indeed! By the oft-repeated verses,

No way! And the verses of the Seven

I have no equal among books.

I have no peer among scriptures.

وكفَى بمَنْ هُو جامعي

وكفَى بمَنْ هُو جامعي

فخراً لِمَنْ عَنهُ رواني

فخراً لِمَنْ عَنهُ رواني

And sufficient is the one who compiled me

And suffice is He who collected me

As a source of pride for whoever transmitted me from him:

Pride for those who narrate from Him.

زيدٌ إمامُ الحقِّ خيرُ

زيدٌ إمامُ الحقِّ خيرُ

الخلْقِ من قاصٍ وداني

الخلْقِ من قاصٍ وداني

Zayd, the Imam of Truth, the best

Zayd leader of truth, best

Of creation, far and near.

Of creation, whether near or far.

يا مَنْ تنكّبَ جَاهِلاً

يا مَنْ تنكّبَ جَاهِلاً

سُبلَ الْهدايةِ والبياني

سُبلَ الْهدايةِ والبياني

O you who have ignorantly shunned

O you who ignorantly turned away

The paths of guidance and clear exposition,

From the paths of guidance and elocution.

أقْبلْ عليَّ مُشمّراً

أقْبلْ عليَّ مُشمّراً

ودع التكاسُلَ والتّواني

ودع التكاسُلَ والتّواني

Come to me, girded for effort,

Turn to me determined,

And abandon laziness and delay.

Leave laziness and hesitation.

وذرِ اتّباعكَ لِلْهوى

وذرِ اتّباعكَ لِلْهوى

إنَّ الْهوى شركُ الْهَوانِ

إنَّ الْهوى شركُ الْهَوانِ

And forsake your pursuit of desire,

And cease following your desires,

For desire is the snare of humiliation,

Verily whims are the polytheism of disgrace.

لِتَفوزَ في يَوم القِيامةِ

لِتَفوزَ في يَوم القِيامةِ

بالأَمانِ وبالأَماني

بالأَمانِ وبالأَماني

So that you may attain, on Resurrection Day,

That you may win on Judgement Day

Safety and the fulfillment of wishes,

Safety, and your wishes.

وتُخَصّ في جَنْات

وتُخَصّ في جَنْات

عَدْنٍ بالمكانةِ والمكانِ

عَدْنٍ بالمكانةِ والمكانِ

And be specially favored in the gardens

And be singled out in the Gardens

Of Eden with rank and a dwelling.

Of Eden in status and abode.

إيّاكَ تَعرضُ شسانِئاً

إيّاكَ تَعرضُ شسانِئاً

لِي جاهِلاً لِرفيع شاني

لِي جاهِلاً لِرفيع شاني

Beware of turning away in hatred

Beware presenting as ignorant

Of me, ignorant of my exalted standing.

To me of noble status.

مَنْ راحَ عنّي مُعْرضاً

مَنْ راحَ عنّي مُعْرضاً

مَا رَاحَ رائحةَ الجِنَانِ

مَا رَاحَ رائحةَ الجِنَانِ

Whoever departs from me, turning away,

Whoever turns away from me

Will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.

Turns not to the scent of Paradise.
