A grave holds a piece of my liver.
She perished, and with her loss my fortitude perished.

from an imminent hour to a later one!

Grief has left nothing of me but burning pangs
and tears flowing ceaselessly down my cheeks.

ماnot أنصفَwere fair العاذلونthe reproachers إذwhen عذلواthey reproached
أنbecause بحتُI spoke openly بالحُزنِof sorrow فيكover you والكمدِand anguish
The reproachers were unjust when they reproached me
because I voiced my sorrow and anguish over you.
كيفَhow يلوموننيthey blame me علىfor جزعيmy anguish
وأنتِand you are قلبيmy heart دفنتُهI buried it بيديwith my hand
How can they blame me for my anguish,
when you are my heart, which I buried with my own hand?
كلُّevery حبيبٍbeloved تذيبُmelts فرقتهparting from him الأحشاthe entrails
ولاand none مثلlike فرقةparting from الولدone's child
Parting from any beloved melts the entrails,
but none is like parting from one's child.
