عزاؤكمcondolences to you آلfamily of المطهّرal-Mutahhar فيfor فتىًa young man
قضىhe died فقضىand so died المجدglory المؤثّلُdeep-rooted والنّدىand generosity
Condolences to you, family of al-Mutahhar, for a young man
Your solace, O purified family, for a young man
Who died, and with him died deep-rooted glory and generosity.
Who fulfilled his destiny, so glory and dew fulfilled theirs.
أقامَhe settled بدارin the abode of الخُلدِeternity جاراًas a neighbor لِربّهto his Lord
وأورثناand bequeathed us حزناًgrief أقامmade us stand وأقعداand made us sit
He settled in the abode of eternity, a neighbor to his Lord,
He dwells now as a neighbor of his Lord in the abode of immortality,
And bequeathed us grief that made us stand and sit.
And left us with enduring, seated grief.
وماand not كانhe was إلاّbut طودa mountain of مجدٍglory تهدّمَتْcollapsed

And he was but a mountain of glory that crumbled
He was but a pillar of glory that collapsed,
Along its sides, or a necklace of generosity that came apart.
Its sides broken, or a knot of generosity that came undone.

And if a dead man whose loss was so great could be ransomed,
Had his most precious soul been ransomable,
He would have been ransomed with the souls of all humankind.
It would have been redeemed with the souls of all humanity.
وماand as long as دمتمُyou remain لِلْمجدfor glory والجودand generosity بعدَهُafter him
فركنُthen the pillar of المعاليlofty honors لاnot يزالُceases مُشيّداfirmly built
And as long as you remain devoted to glory and generosity after him,
As long as you remain the pillar of glory and generosity after him,
The pillar of lofty honors will remain firmly built.
The pillar of nobility will remain standing.
وإنّand indeed جميلgracious الصبرpatience فيكمamong you لَعادةٌsurely a custom
إذاwhen جارacted unjustly حُكمْthe decree of الحادثاتcalamities أوor اعْتدىtransgressed
And gracious patience is surely a custom among you,
And your fine patience is indeed your custom,
When the decree of calamities is unjust or oversteps its bounds.
Whenever the decree of fate bears down or grows violent.
تعوّدتمُyou have grown accustomed to الصبَّرpatience الجميلَgracious وإنّماand indeed
لكلّfor every امرءٍperson منfrom دَهرِهِhis lifetime مَاwhat تعوّداhe has grown accustomed to
You have grown accustomed to gracious patience; and indeed,
You are accustomed to fine, beautiful patience, and indeed
Each person receives from life what he has grown accustomed to.
Each person gets from his fate what he is accustomed to.

Upon you be God's peace, family of Mutahhar,
Upon you be God's peace, O purified family,
And His mercy, as long as a full moon vanishes and appears.
His mercy forever, as long as stars set and rise.
