جزىmay He reward اللهGod بالحسنىwith goodness عذوليmy reproacher وإنand even if يكنْhe has
جزى الله بالحسنى عذولي وإن يكنْ
أثارkindled لهيباًa flame فيin الفؤادِthe heart وسَعَّراand stoked it
أثار لهيباً في الفؤادِ وسَعَّرا
May God reward my reproacher with goodness, even if he has
kindled a flame in my heart and stoked it.
وماand not ذاكَthat إلاّexcept أنّهthat he حينwhen لاَمنيhe reproached me
وما ذاكَ إلاّ أنّه حين لاَمني
توهَّمَhe imagined سهواًforgetfulness منfrom فؤاديmy heart فذَكْراand so he reminded it
توهَّمَ سهواً من فؤادي فذَكْرا
And that is only because, when he reproached me,
he imagined my heart had forgotten, and so reminded it.
