ترفّقْ بجسم قد أضرّ به الهوى

ترفّقْ بجسم قد أضرّ به الهوى

وقلبٍ معنّى فيكَ فارقَه الصبرُ

وقلبٍ معنّى فيكَ فارقَه الصبرُ

Be gentle with a body that passion has harmed,

Be gentle with a body that passion has wasted away,

and a heart tormented over you, which patience has forsaken.

And a heart that is burdened with love for you and deserted by patience.

فلم يُبقِ مِنّي الحبُّ غيرَ بقيةٍ

فلم يُبقِ مِنّي الحبُّ غيرَ بقيةٍ

وعمّا قَريبٍ سَوفَ يُذْهِبُها الهجْرُ

وعمّا قَريبٍ سَوفَ يُذْهِبُها الهجْرُ

For love has left nothing of me but a remnant,

Love has left of me nothing but some small remains,

and soon estrangement will take it away.

Which separation will soon take away.
