وبرامةٍ دَعْني وما لا أعرفُ
And you who sing of al-Raqmatayn and Hajir,
With cheeks like rose petals and arrogance
And of Ramah—spare me what I do not know.
And innocence, leave me be with what I do not know

Sing of Haddah, or desist, for she is the one
Rebuke her harshness or leave her be for she is the one
Now described as possessing every kind of beauty.
Who has come to be described with all kinds of beauty

Where can you find the like of Haddah? Tell me.
Where can you find sharpness of features like hers
Far from it! The like of her beauty is unknown.
Alas, the like of her beauty is not known

The verdant valley of Bawwan is no match for her
What valley in Buwan can compare to her
In beauty, were the dissenter to judge fairly.
In beauty, even if the critic is fair

And if Sogd one day imitated her in splendor,
And Sughd, if it ever portrayed her as joy
She would cry to it: “Enough, you pretentious one!”
She would say "enough, you pretender"
