ولم أَخَفِ السقامَ لأجل موتي

سقاماً أو لإشماتِ الأعادي

And I did not fear illness because I might die

I did not fear sickness for my death

of illness, or because it might make enemies gloat;

ولكنّي خشيتُ إذا تمادَى
