وفاتر الطَّرف ليس يُرْعَى

وفاتر الطَّرف ليس يُرْعَى

لديه عهدٌ ولا ذِمامُ

لديه عهدٌ ولا ذِمامُ

And a languid-eyed one, who honors no

With languid eyes that take no heed

Pledge or bond of honor.

Of pact or tether binding him,

بعَّدَهُ الحاسدونَ عنّي

بعَّدَهُ الحاسدونَ عنّي

فَوصْلُهُ قَطّ لا يُرامُ

فَوصْلُهُ قَطّ لا يُرامُ

The envious have driven him far from me,

Enviers have sundered him from me,

So union with him is never to be hoped for.

So we can nevermore be wed.
