سواكother than You ياO رافعraiser of السَّبْعthe seven السَّمواتِthe heavens
To whose justice can I bring my complaints
but Yours, O raiser of the seven heavens?
مَنْwho ذَاis it أُرَجيّهI place hope in him أَمْor مَنْwho ذاis it أُؤمِّلُهُI look to him in hope

لِماfor what أَتّانيhas befallen me مِنَof البلْويthe affliction ومَاand what يَأتيis to come
Whom can I place my hope in, or whom can I look to,
for the affliction that has befallen me and whatever is to come?
مَنْwho ذاis it ألوذُI seek refuge بهin him قيماin what (likely intended) أَلمَّbefell ومَنْand whom

In whom can I seek refuge amid what has befallen me, and whom
can I call upon if my patience wanes amid my afflictions?

My Lord, Your ways, for which You are known, are

And Your vast pardon, my Lord, is greater than
my sins, when they exceed what I can bear.

شكراًthanks ولوand even if أنّنيthat I اسْتَغرقتُI spent all ساعاتيmy hours
How many blessings of Yours I have, for which I cannot offer
thanks, even if I devoted all my hours to it!

And many a crushing difficulty almost drowned me
in a sea of ruin; then my deliverance came from You.

You fashioned me well, O Lord, in balanced proportion,
perfecting my tools and instruments.

بِرّاًout of kindness وقدَرتَand You ordained أقْواتيmy sustenance وأوقاتيand my times
You protected me, Lord, when no creature could protect me,
out of kindness, and ordained my sustenance and my appointed times.
ولمand did not تَزَلْcease عَينُan eye برًّkindness مِنْكfrom You تلحظنيwatches over me

And Your eye of kindness has never ceased watching over me,
so no state of mine has lacked an act of kindness from You.
أشكوI complain إليكَto You أموراًmatters أنتَYou تعلَمُهاYou know them
فأنتfor You ياO ربّLord علاّمKnower of all الخفيّاتِhidden things
I complain to You of matters that You know,
for You, O Lord, are the Knower of all hidden things.

If someone other than You could spare me their gravest troubles,
I would tell him the secrets within my heart.
هَيْهَاتfar from it مَاليI have no عِنْدَwith الخَلْقِcreated beings منany فرجٍrelief
فأنتَso You أنتَYou الذيthe one whom أرجُوI look to in hope لِحَاجاتيfor my needs
Far from it! No relief for me lies with created beings.
So You, You alone, are the one I look to for my needs.
