مُذ تَراءى الإِحماض في الغيث قومٌ

أوسعُوه لذاك لَعناً وسبّا

أوسعُوه لذاك لَعناً وسبّا

Since bawdy wit appeared in al-Ghayth, some people

Since acidity appeared in the rain, a people

have heaped curses and insults upon him for it.

Cursed and insulted it for that reason

قُلتُ هذا مِصداق ما ذكروه

قُلتُ هذا مِصداق ما ذكروه

إنّ لِلْغيث باغِضاً ومحبّا

إنّ لِلْغيث باغِضاً ومحبّا
