    قَد قَضى التَمزيقُ مِنهُ وَطَرَه

    A mantle belonging to Ibn Harb came to me;

Tearing has had its fill of it.

Out of fear for it, I am forever

A Samiri who spares no precaution.

O Ibn Harb, take it, or send us the means

To buy a calf for ten copper coins.

Then perhaps God will revive it for us,

If we strike it with part of the cow.

For it lived to see Noah, so perhaps

It has some knowledge of Noah's lore.

Whoever sees it is forever reciting:

“What! When we have become crumbling bones?”
