You wounded the lovesick one's heart; so heal it.
You've wounded the heart of an ardent lover, so heal it,
And match him in preserving affection, and be his equal.
And make him your equal in keeping affection alive.

فَأَنْزِلْهُ في مَغْنى رِضَاكَ وآوِهِ
An exile in love, his heart takes refuge in yearning.
A stranger to love, his heart seeks tenderness -
So lodge him in the abode of your favor, and shelter him.
So give him comfort in your acceptance, give him shelter.
وَبيand I am smitten with مَبْسَمٌa smiling mouth أَلميdark-lipped فُتِنْتُI was bewitched بِميمِهِby its mīm
وَبي مَبْسَمٌ أَلمي فُتِنْتُ بِميمِهِ
غَراماًin passionate love وَصُدْغٍand a temple-lock قَدْindeed فُتِنْتُI was bewitched بِوَاوِهِby its wāw
غَراماً وَصُدْغٍ قَدْ فُتِنْتُ بِوَاوِهِ
And I am smitten with a dark-lipped mouth—its mīm has bewitched me
I have a smiling mouth whose charm has seduced me,
with passion—and with a temple-lock; its wāw has indeed bewitched me.
With passion and cheek I'm seduced by its letter "Waw".
