هَجرْتَyou have forsaken فَتىًa youth أَدْنَىclosest الأَنامِall people مَحَبَّةًin affection
إِلَيكَto you وَأَوْفَىand the most faithful مَنْthose who إِلىto العَهْدِthe pledge يُنْسَبُis linked
You have forsaken a youth, closest of all people in affection
You abandoned one who loved you more than all people
to you, and the most faithful of all who are known to keep a pledge.
And kept truest to his word and pact
وَأَبْقَيْتَand you have kept منَْone who لاnot يَرْتَضِيis pleased حِينwhen تَرْتَضِيyou are pleased
وَلاand not هُوَhe غَضْبانٌangry إِذَاwhen أَنْتَyou تَغْضَبُyou become angry
And you have kept one who is not pleased when you are pleased,
And instead you kept by one who does not wish what you wish
nor is he angry when you become angry.
Nor angers when you rage
