There is no excuse for the lovesick lover if he has not grown used to ruin,
The youth is not excused if he fails to become accustomed to separation,
nor for the beloved if they have not grown used to haughtiness.
Nor the lovers if they fail to become accustomed to abandonment.

What claim to honor have I in their eyes,
From where do I have a lineage of glory in their eyes,
through which I seek distinction in love, or ardent passion?
That I would seek through it esteem in love or passion?
