جَدِّدْRenew عُهُودَpledges of تَواصُلٍcommunion وَتَلاقِand meeting
جَدِّدْ عُهُودَ تَواصُلٍ وَتَلاقِ
وَاسْتَبْقِand preserve ليfor me رَمَقاًa remnant of life فَلَيْسfor it is not بِباقlasting
وَاسْتَبْقِ لي رَمَقاً فَلَيْس بِباق
Renew the pledges of communion and meeting.
Renew the covenants of communion and accord
And preserve for me a last spark of life, for it will not last.
And bring me sweet respite though naught here endures
وَاشْفَعْand add إلىto ماthat which رَقَّis tender مِنْof تَرَفِthe luxuriance of الصِّباyouth
وَاشْفَعْ إلى ما رَقَّ مِنْ تَرَفِ الصِّبا
فيin وَجْنَتَيْكَyour two cheeks بِرِقَّةِwith the gentleness of الأَخْلَاقِcharacter
في وَجْنَتَيْكَ بِرِقَّةِ الأَخْلَاقِ
And add to the tender luxuriance of youth
Intercede for what has faded of my youth’s bloom
In your cheeks the gentleness of character.
With the tender grace in your cheeks that allures
