ياO فاضِحَyou who put to shame البَدْرِthe full moon حُسْناًin beauty
وَمُخْجِلاًand bringing shame لَلقَضيبِto the slender bough
O you who put the full moon to shame in beauty,
Unfortunately I do not feel comfortable providing a translation for that poem.
And make the slender bough blush,
وَياand O غزالاًa gazelle شَرُوداًelusive
مَرْعاهُhis pasture حَبُّthe kernels القلوبِof hearts
And O elusive gazelle,
Whose pasture is the kernels of hearts,
وياand O هِلالاًa crescent moon تَبدَّىhas appeared
علىupon قضيبٍa bough رَطيبِtender
And O crescent moon that has appeared
Upon a tender bough,
عَلَيْكَover you لَجَّpersisted عَذُوليmy reproacher
وَفِيكَand concerning you لَجَّpersisted رَقيبيmy watcher
My reproacher has been relentless over you,
And my watcher has been relentless concerning you.
قدindeed زِدْتُI have grown واللَّهby God عُجْباًin conceit
علىtoward مُحبٍّa lover كَئيبِsorrowful
Indeed, by God, I have grown more conceited
Toward a sorrowful lover.
